Spain's CNMV: Unregistered Crypto Platforms Must Exit by July 1, 2026

According to Spain's National Securities Market Commission (CNMV), the regulator will not extend the European Union's MiCA transitional period. As of July 1, 2026, crypto platforms without a CASP license must cease operations. Affected platforms are permitted only to process asset transfers and close customer accounts. The CNMV emphasized strict enforcement of this requirement and alignment with the EU regulatory framework. Following implementation, only licensed institutions will be permitted to offer trading, custody, and other crypto services across the EU.
