Visa, M-Pesa, and Onafriq Launch Stablecoin Cross-Border Transfer Pilot in DRC

According to Bitcoin.com News, Visa, M-Pesa, and Onafriq launched a stablecoin cross-border transfer pilot in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, enabling settlement of mobile transactions pegged to the U.S. dollar. The pilot supports mobile wallet top-ups, international business transactions, and remittances. The World Bank estimates cross-border remittance costs in sub-Saharan Africa average approximately 8% of transfer amounts.
