China's AI Open-Source Players Raising Prices, Shifting to Closed-Source Models This Year, Says Critini Analyst

According to Critini Research analyst Jukan, Chinese AI open-source developers are raising prices or shifting toward closed-source business models this year, signaling that the token price war has hit bottom. Jukan noted that Zhipu AI, the company behind GLM-5.2, has raised prices multiple times in 2026. The analyst emphasized that open-source does not equate to permanently discounted API pricing, as Chinese large language model developers cannot indefinitely ignore return on investment.
