Polymarket Plans Legal Challenge Against France's ANJ Website Block Ahead of World Cup Final

POLYMARKET-24.45%
According to Polymarket's Wednesday statement, the prediction market plans to challenge France's gaming authority (ANJ) decision to block access to its website. The ANJ ordered internet service providers to block Polymarket ahead of the World Cup final, citing concerns about illegal gambling and manipulation risks. Polymarket said it had disabled trading from France since November 2024 but continued allowing French users to access the platform as an information source. The firm stated it was surprised by the blanket website block, which affects users seeking information rather than those placing bets. The ANJ noted Polymarket still received 578,751 visits from 205,057 unique French visitors in June and said the homepage displays live odds, constituting advertising of unauthorized gambling.
